Your account and journal

PoshanSense uses Google Firebase Authentication for Google or email sign-in. Your account includes your sign-in identity. Meals, custom foods, saved meals, profile, goals, optional health conditions and pregnancy preferences, and weight logs are stored on your device and in your private Firebase cloud journal so you can restore your progress. Device storage also includes account snapshots and a recovery copy.

Health Connect

With your permission, PoshanSense reads steps, active and total calories, and sleep to show trends and estimate your food budget. These readings are processed on your device and are not included in your cloud journal or our app-use diagnostic events. You can revoke access in Android’s Health Connect settings.

Home-screen widget

The optional Android widget stores daily calorie and macro totals, adjusted target, date, last-update time and appearance preferences in private on-device storage. It displays these totals on your home screen, which may be visible to anyone using your phone. It updates while you use PoshanSense and clears when you sign out. It does not store food names or send widget totals to analytics.

AI search and photos

When you use AI search or submit a meal photo, the food request or image is sent to Google Gemini using your configured API key. This is an online service subject to Google’s applicable terms and data practices. Do not include information you do not want sent to that service. The Android app stores your API key encrypted on your device; it is not included in journal backups or diagnostics.

Optional community food library

Food sharing is off by default and is available when signed in and the shared food service is connected. If you enable it on this device, newly logged AI estimates are submitted for review: food name, preparation, serving size and nutrition per serving. Do not include personal information in names or preparation notes. Your original search, photo, meal, date, amount eaten, journal and health preferences are not submitted.

Your account authenticates submissions and limits abuse, but its identity is not stored with the food contribution. Network providers may process connection metadata. Approved food information may become available to other users. Turning sharing off stops future submissions; it does not remove previous contributions. Contact support if a contribution contains personal information. AI checks do not certify nutrition accuracy.

Usage and diagnostics

Diagnostics are optional and off for new installs until you choose to share; existing saved choices are respected. You can switch them off under Data & privacy. Firebase Analytics receives allowed app-use events such as screen visits, sign-in outcomes, save failures, AI success/cache results and response-time bands, and Briefs navigation depth. Story headlines, URLs and health topics are not sent. A stable 8-digit Support ID connects events across sessions: this is pseudonymous, not anonymous. App-added event parameters exclude your name, email, journal contents, body measurements, Health Connect readings, images, prompts and keys. Firebase may also process SDK-generated device, app-instance and technical information. Turning diagnostics off stops future collection; it does not itself erase previously collected events.

Suggestions and support

Suggestions store the category, message, optional contact details, app version and submission time in Firebase. Support email contains the information you send. Avoid sharing passwords, keys or health details in suggestions.

Retention and deletion

Cloud account and journal data are retained until you request deletion. Request deletion through Settings → Data & privacy → Delete account and data, or our account deletion page. We verify ownership, remove account and journal records, and confirm completion. Tell us about any suggestion or support correspondence you also want removed. Previously collected diagnostics require separate processing; ask us to include them. We will explain any information that must be retained and why. Copies you exported, data on another offline device, and records held independently by Google or Health Connect are not erased by a cloud deletion.

Your controls

You can export your journal, switch diagnostics off, revoke Health Connect access, and request deletion. After deletion is confirmed, clear PoshanSense’s app storage on each device to remove offline journals and recovery copies; delete exported backup files separately. Service providers process data to provide authentication, storage, diagnostics and requested AI features.

Wellness estimates

PoshanSense provides general wellness estimates. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice.

Health briefs

PoshanSense loads public health-section feeds when the app opens and refreshes them when it returns to the foreground. Your manually selected country determines which feeds are requested. Current sources include Indian Express, NIH and ScienceDaily. These providers receive ordinary connection information, such as IP address, but not your journal or health preferences. Opening a story connects to its publisher. No GPS location is used.

AI estimates receive your manually selected country (India if unset) to choose familiar serving units. Successful text estimates, including their search text and region, are cached on your device for reuse until cleared, subject to storage availability. You can clear the personal AI cache in Settings → Data & privacy without deleting saved foods or journal entries. Meal photos are not stored in this estimate cache.

Website advertising

No advertising is currently active. Before we introduce it, we will update the disclosures and provide appropriate consent controls. App diagnostics settings are separate from website advertising choices. Advertising and privacy choices.

Play Store launch reminders

If you send a launch-reminder request by email, we receive your email address and message in our support mailbox. We use that request for one Play Store launch email, not for advertising. Clicking the button alone does not register you; you must send the email. Reply “Cancel reminder” to cancel. We remove the reminder-list entry after sending or cancellation; mailbox copies follow the email provider’s retention. You may request deletion by contacting support.

This website

This website does not ask you to upload a journal, sign in to PoshanSense or submit health information. A color-theme preference is stored in your browser. The hosting provider processes ordinary technical request information to serve and secure the website. Email links open your email app; no request is sent until you send the email.
