PoshanSense terms of use

These terms cover the PoshanSense app and this website. PoshanSense is an independent app. In these terms, “we” means the developer operating PoshanSense. Contact: id.smallpotatostuff@gmail.com.

1. Using PoshanSense

These terms explain the conditions for using the app and its features. Please read them before using the service. If you do not agree, do not use the app; you may still contact support to request access to or deletion of your data. Our privacy policy separately explains how information is handled. These terms do not replace consent for optional data collection or device permissions.

2. Nutrition estimates and health information

Calories, serving sizes, macros, activity adjustments and other figures are estimates. Recipes, food labels, portions, devices and AI outputs can differ or be incorrect. You are responsible for reviewing food identity, quantities and estimates before saving or using them. See how we calculate for methods, assumptions and research references.

PoshanSense is a general wellness tool, not a medical device, diagnosis, treatment or personalised medical advice. Its general calorie estimates are intended for adults, not children's nutrition planning. Health preferences do not turn an estimate into a clinical recommendation. Consult a qualified professional about your needs, especially during pregnancy, breastfeeding, an eating disorder or a chronic condition. Do not change medication or prescribed care based on the app, and do not use it for emergencies.

Health briefs and public guides are informational. A reported study or linked article is not an endorsement, and its findings may not apply to you.

3. Beta availability and changes

The app is currently in beta testing. Features may change, stop working or become unavailable, and bugs can affect saved information. We do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free operation or a particular health outcome. Keep copies of information important to you. Download availability and any official store listing will be shown on the beta page; these terms do not mean an APK is currently available.

4. Accounts, devices and responsible use

Use only accounts, devices and API credentials you are authorised to use. Keep your sign-in details and API keys secure. Do not impersonate others, access another person's journal, submit unlawful content, interfere with the service or evade security and usage limits. Contact support if you suspect unauthorised access. Do not email passwords, API keys or medical records.

5. Optional services and third parties

Optional AI estimates use Google Gemini and your connected API key. Availability, quotas and any charges depend on your Google project and its terms. PoshanSense does not control those limits or promise that requests will always be free or successful. Review your provider's settings before enabling paid usage. Meal descriptions and images submitted for estimation are handled as explained in our privacy policy.

Sign-in, cloud services, Health Connect and external news links depend on their respective providers and permissions. Their own terms and privacy notices also apply when you use them. We do not control external websites or their content.

6. Your content and optional food sharing

You retain your rights in your journal and other content you provide. You permit us to process it only as needed to provide the features you choose and as described in the privacy policy. This does not grant us ownership of your private journal.

If you choose to contribute food information to the community library, you permit us to review, format and make that submitted food information available to other users as part of the service. Only submit information you have the right to share, and keep personal information out of food names and preparation notes. Turning sharing off stops future contributions; it does not automatically withdraw information already shared. Contact support about an incorrect contribution or one containing personal information.

7. App and website content

You may use the app and website for their intended purposes, subject to these terms. This permission does not transfer ownership of our original software, branding or website material. Third-party materials, linked articles, fonts and open-source components remain subject to their owners' rights and applicable licences. Nothing here limits rights granted by those licences or by law. Do not imply an affiliation with or endorsement by PoshanSense without permission.

8. Costs, advertising and launch reminders

This website currently has no checkout or active advertising. Any future paid feature or subscription will have its price and applicable terms disclosed before you choose it. Third-party API, internet and mobile data charges may still apply. A Play Store reminder is a request for one launch email, not a marketing subscription; see the reminder privacy notice for cancellation and handling details.

9. Stopping use and account deletion

You may stop using PoshanSense at any time. Uninstalling the app does not by itself delete a cloud account. Follow the account and data deletion instructions for a deletion request, including separate steps for local data and exported backups.

We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, a security risk or a legal obligation. Where practical and appropriate, we will explain the restriction and how to contact us. You can still contact support about your data or a restriction.

10. Responsibility and your legal rights

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as available without a guarantee that it will meet every need. We are not responsible for a third-party service's independent actions or outcomes caused by inaccurate information you provide, except where applicable law makes us responsible. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits your mandatory consumer, privacy or other statutory rights. These terms do not require you to give up access to a court, regulator or other remedy available under applicable law.

11. Updates and contact

We may update these terms as the service changes. The date at the end of this page identifies this version. Material changes will be highlighted on the website or in the app as appropriate, and we will seek agreement where required. Changes are not intended to retrospectively remove rights you already have.
